About the Artist
Chris Johanson was born in San Jose, California in 1968 and currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, California. He has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at galleries and museums including Mitchell-Innes and Nash (New York City), Altman Siegel Gallery (San Francisco), Galleri Nicolai Wallne (Copenhagen), The Modern Institute (Glasgow), and MOCA Pacific Design Center (Los Angeles).
Two monographs have been published on the artist: Please Listen I Have Something to Tell You (Damani, 2007) and Chris Johanson (Phaidon, 2013). Johanson's work has been included in group exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Berkeley Art Museum, Karma, Whitney Museum, PMOMA, White Columns, San Francisco Art Institute, Grey Art Gallery, and the Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, among many others.
